San Elijo State Beach
I spent two nights here at this beach north of San Diego. Luckily, I was able to secure a camping spot right on the cliff next to the ocean. There is a chain link fence preventing people from getting too close to the edge. A none hook-up spot was $50.00. But, as a friend reminded me, if I were to stay in a hotel along this beach, it would probably cost me three or four hundred dollars a night!... or more. I would rather spend that money and stay in my RV, and sleep in a comfy and familiar bed.
Watching the sunset is always a special treat, as well as watching the dozens of surfers out there trying to catch a wave.
JoJo was with me, inside of his bag, and was able to catch some nice snoozes while I read, caught up on internet stuff, and tried to figure out my future destinations. I also got a great step aerobic step workout taking this staircase up and down from the cliff. Along with a few souvenier slivers in my palm, from the weathered wood railing.
They say that there is a natural oil seepage along this coast.....or it could be from oil rigs out there in the ocean. Yuck. Sticky goo. So I spent 45 minutes cleaning tar off of my feet. But I read that olive oil and dish soap takes it right off. Seriously, I learn something new every single day. Handy tip. So what's a little beach time without some tar on your feet!!!!!?????
