One more day at the winery, in the rain

So, I'm wrapping up my last moments in the Cape May area. I actually stayed at a campsite last night, only because, after about a week+, I needed fresh water, and a dump station, just to get my RV back into full capacity, so I can do more boondocking (dry camping).

I'm always really concerned about JoJo's welfare. Before my road trip, I took JoJo to get his annual wellness checkup. And after discussing my plans with the veterinarian, they suggested  a  preventative flee and tick prescription, in case of exposure, especially since I will be will be traveling in the Northeast. I was somewhat hesitant, but decided to go ahead and prepare for this regimen, which was a few hundred dollars. So I just administered his prescribed monthly dosage, and out of the blue, by chance, started checking his fur. And to my utter horror, discovered several ticks on his skin. I want to be sick. So I spent the morning checking him over, and did the best I could to remove these SOB's. It was not easy using one hand to hold him, and one to search and destroy. He was not a happy camper, and gave me "the look" several times. That look, which is "I thought you loved me, but why are you doing this look?"  A look of betrail. I seriously had him in every position that there was, to check him out. Any one watching may have called animal control. But I did this with love, and praised him continuously. I stopped at PetSmart and bought a flea and tick shampoo, and am determined to do what it takes to make him comfortable. We don't really have a tick problem in Arizona, yet I know that it is very prevalent in this part of the country. So I'm thankful that I decided to go with the prescription, for preventive measures.

I wound up visiting Cold Spring Museum. Unfortunately they weren't open. It is a working village and opportunity to see how villagers would have lived in the 1800's, along with a pottery shop, bakery, tinsmith, print shop, etc. It was a nice little walk through this area a long these charming buildings. However, Cold Spring Brewery was open, so I got a sampling of their craft beers, and just sat in an Adirondack chair, with a phone call to my sister. It was quite relaxing. Especially after intense tick patrol duty.

I stopped at an antique shop, and met Sue, and Wayne. They have a Class B RV from 2006. However, they haven't used it much, because unfortunately, Sue has had to be on dialysis, had a kidney transplant, and most recently back surgery. So their plans were on hold to do any traveling. I spent quite a bit of time talking with them and hopefully, I inspired or encouraged them to get back on the road. At least that's what Sue was hoping to do. So, it is wonderful meeting nice people out and about, as I travel.

I bought some apple wine at my evening stay, back at Jessie Creek Winery, and had a long chat with Via, and Lisa, who wanted to meet JoJo. After a brief growl and bark, to show whose boss, he was all over the attention.

Jo Jo had his tick and flee bath, and now the rain is now coming down.... hard. I head out tomorrow, on to the next road stop.TBA, as the adventure continues.
