Corbett's Glen Nature Park

I found another treasure here in Corbett's Glen Nature Park, in Penfield. Marina and I did a loop hike from the base of a few smaller waterfalls. It took us through meadows and forests, with a soft rain. Its deja vu, now with the other gorge trails that I have had the special opportunity to see, and hike. There are more gorges than I have imagined in this area. Somehow flowing and falling waters never grows tiring. Marina got to witness my step, slip, and slide technique while I managed to stay on my feet. I am glad to have caught myself, and didn't fall. It's pretty muddy, as we have had several days of rain.

We stopped for a quick afternoon ice cream treat. Don't tell her parents, as I did not get permission. But, that was part of the surprise and adventure, and I don't plan on doing this daily. What little girl or grown-up doesn't love ice cream, right? I had the deer tracks with expresso chips... to die for. On our drive back we went through a neighborhood, and saw a flock of turkeys. For whatever reason I don't remember them being quite this large when I lived here. They were quite impressive and pretty tall. I just love Mother Nature when it puts on a show, or shows us the animals that live there. We ended the day with Marina's first slumber party, in the Sylver Gypsy. We watched a video, then "Finding Nemo" the following morning. We slept with open windows and it was quite comfortable. It was a hypnotic, soothing rain for most of the night.

Other than a brief head cold, no other mishaps, except my souvenir windshield chips. The Sylver Gypsy performed wonderfully. She kept me safe and warm. My last days were drive heavy, but I managed a quick stop at Bryce Canyon National Park. My last night was in the Coconino Forest near Flagstaff, where I also made a brief stop at Sunset Crater. I’ll need a few moments to adjust being back to reality, but it’s nice to be home!

Bryce Canyon National Park, then almost home

​ A great night in the Utah desert, and a rather chilly morning, surprisingly, but I got up and hurried out of there with the intention of getting to Bryce Canyon National Park. I wondered if I would have enough time and decided it was only 20 minutes one-way, out-of-the-way as I continued on my route home. This would be my third time visiting Bryce and I’m so glad I did. As with any National Park, there are some new changes and the Ranger told me that because I’m over 20 feet I would have to park in the main parking lot and take the shuttle bus in to see the viewpoints. She gave me a tag to hang in my window. My heart sank to the bottom, since I know the shuttle buses will not except pets, and I was not willing to leave Jo Jo. However, upon examining the tag, it indicated vehicles over 23 feet to park and shuttle. My Travato is 21 feet. Hmmmm, I was annoyed. Wiseman to Atigun Pass, AK

​ Well, today was a blast, as I headed back to Coldfoot. I stopped for gas at the truckstop which included a restaurant gift shop and modest accommodations. $72.00 gas bucks later, I was enticed by their breakfast, even though I ate it in my RV, I couldn’t get over the portion sizes, as I watched others eating, and the prices were incredible. For $15, I got not a 1, 2, 3, but a 4 egg omelette with bacon, turkey, onions and peppers, hashbrowns and a homemade potato bun which I plan on eating for at least 4 breakfasts! It was like an Amazon breakfast that I’ve never seen before. I guess one should go to a truckstop for these portions! How can you beat the price, and it was home cooked right there in the café. I did a little designated trail to the pipeline, much of which can be seen along this highway. After a brief stop again at the visitor center, I went to the minors cabin and historic cemetery.
