Canadice and Hemlock Lakes
I decided to head to Canadice Lake in the Finger Lakes for a kayak ride. I was able to locate an area and found the owner John, who set me up very quickly. Before I knew it I was out in the middle of the lake with JoJo, gliding amongst just a handful of other kayakers. Canadice and Hemlock Lakes are water sources for Rochester New York. It is part of the New York State Forest system. Which means the lakes edge are undeveloped and remotely protected, leaving a serene, peaceful and natural setting. This is the first time I have been to Canadice Lake... ever, as I continue to find beautiful treasures within this part of the world. I think even Jo Jo was able to relax and enjoy the ride, eventhough he does not like the water at all. He wears a small life preserver. I had a dinner date with my girlfriend Jan who lives near Conesus Lake. Jan has been quite busy in her studio. As a clay artist, she creates lamps, vessels, and mirrors, and sells through a website called Artful Home. I arrived just in time to share some champagne, a celebration for her break, and a celebration of my leisurely day. After enjoying a delicious pesto pasta meal, I spent a peaceful night in the Sylver Gypsy, next to her creek. The next morning we enjoyed a hike on Hemlock Lake, again experiencing serenity with just a few other hikers. We walked for about an hour before finding a remote beach area where we sat and ate some snacks. I found a few more fossils. I'm becoming quite the fossil collector and this time it was about 10 pounds worth in my backpack. I just couldn't refuse or resist these fossils. I returned home for a street taco dinner with my cousins and after a bit of running around and trampoline work with Jo Jo, I played a few board games with Marina. She and I are already talking about the next slumber party!
