Forked Lake
I was really excited about renting a kayak this morning to spend a day at Forked Lake. It was actually a beautiful day somewhere between the mid-to-high 70's and partly cloudy. I loaded my lunch and some snacks along with water and Jo Jo, and headed out onto the lake. Getting into the kayak is one matter, and getting out is quite another. If you ever watch AFV, America's Funniest Videos, and see someone like me, it was filmed here at Forked Lake. I just hope no one noticed the incorrect way of getting in and out of a kayak. I suppose I should find a video on "how to" do that on YouTube.
JoJo was drowsy most of the morning, as he is still on his pain medication, so he's getting some well-needed rest. I managed to do a mani-pedicure and even return some phone calls. So here I am in the middle of a beautiful lake on the cell phone, and I can't believe that there was reception. Oh, god, am I turning into one of those?
I was thrilled to hear the Loon, a common bird here in the Adirondacks, with a distinctive shrill, and high-pitched call. There are a couple photographs here that show it's black head looking somewhat like a duck. I took a quick trip into the town of Long Lake, and went to Hoss's store. A shop with a little bit of everything including groceries and t-shirts. After dinner I went out, yet again, on the lake for a dusk cruise. I could have taken a shower in the RV, but instead I did it in the lake with a refreshing swim. It was an exceptionally calm and peaceful day.
