The Last Day in Rochester
I stopped in at Craft Company Number 6, craft gallery, on University Avenue. My work was carried in this shop back in the 80's through 2000, and it's really a wonderful icon representing craft artists, from the Rochester area, as well as throughout the United States. It's a refurbished firehouse.
We swung by our very first house on Clark Avenue. It's a small 2 bedroom ranch house, and I remember how excited I was buying it so many years ago. We lived there for 4 years. We said hello to our neighbor, Sandra as well.
We went to Penfield to enjoy a quick visit to a Tastin' the Blues Festival, after a quick stop at the doggie exhibit, where Jo Jo got a free pumpkin cookie. For a $4 glass, it was basically open bar sampling of every variety of local Genesee beer. Which hit the spot on this hot day. They also had a chili sampling contest with at least 10 different varieties of home made chili. You could sample as many as you'd like, and then vote for your winner. This was certainly the best lunch deal around. It was tasty, and I found some that were all beef, and even a chicken chili. There was a live blues band playing to set the tone. From here I dropped Jim off at the airport, it was a quick and short week for him.
To end the day, Wendy, Ron, Marina, and I took a drive to Charlotte on Lake Ontario to find the secret sidewalk near the lakefront mansions. It was a beautiful walk in between the gardens and the edge of the lake while we watched a beautiful sunset of pink, blue, peach, and gray. We enjoyed our final dinner together at yet another refurbished firehouse. I will miss my time spent here with family and friends, and so appreciate every ones hospitality and generosity, in taking the time to see me. I will never forget this experience. Thank you from the bottom of my heart as I now set out to continue on my journey home, towards Arizona.
