A bit of Family Time!
It's been awhile since I could catch up with my cousin in California. I managed a good sense of timing to join her and the extended family for her grandson's first birthday party. It's the first time I have visited her house, and it was an absolutely gorgeous home overlooking the cliffs in Southern California. It was my pleasure to help decorate, for the party as I was in charge of blowing up helium balloons. My event planning skills, while working at the college kicked in, and I probably blew up 80 balloons, lol. My small contribution, and a piece of cake. The theme was "construction zone, " with yellow, orange, black, and white, colors. It's funny, because my nephew also really loved excavation construction equipment at a young age. It was a fun visit, even though I feel we didn't get nearly enough time to catch up on our life. I hope to return again soon so we can spend a little bit more time.
I headed north towards Los Angeles. After a quick stop at the grocery store, I managed to get all the way through to Santa Monica. I know that Phoenix is a very large city but it seems so small by the comparison of San Diego to Los Angeles. Traffic wasn't too bad, as I did all of this during the middle of the day. But it is still a very focused drive in several lanes of traffic. I'm finding challenges regarding overnight accommodations, and took the chance in an area along the Pacific California Highway Route 1.
