On to Pinetop, AZ

After a quiet, leisurely morning, I took a hike that was about a 45 minutes loop on the cliffs, as well as down by the lake's edge. This campsite is on a cliff overlooking the lake. It's a Monday morning, and I'm rather surprised that there's no one else on this trail. Weather and the temperatures are very comfortable. After checking out from my site, I returned to a general parking lot back to the lake's edge, to do my very first sketch, in my grand new sketchbook. I retired my former sketchbook that spanned 19 years encompassing my travels since 2001. With that bound sketchbook complete, I am now starting the journey on my newest, and perhaps my last, unless I become more prolific in sketching. It gave me time to really look over the lake and the lava rock cliffs as well as the trees and birds.

I wasn't far from The Wild Holly Ranch, in Pinetop. I shamelessly invited myself over to spend the night in Holly and Jeff's driveway. They bought a beautiful 5 acre property, about a year ago and have lovingly renovated it into a sweet retreat, in the pines. I enjoyed a tasty dinner, with champagne. It was delicious and a great way to celebrate this latest road trip. I got to meet the three dogs, and the two horses, and Jo Jo was fine in the RV safe and sound. What an enjoyable evening and time spent with nice people!
