Pinedale, and Fool Hollow Lake, AZ

I enjoyed the morning taking a hike along these cliffs, trying to get some exercise, and avoiding any contact with cattle. I guess it's really good exercise, on a trail to dodge all the cow pies that you could otherwise step into. Jo Jo would have to do the same tricky footwork.

I stopped at a grocery store to pick up some chicken, and a few odds and ends. Like any small town, this had some severe limitations. I got a kick out of the soup cans with a photograph of green chicken noodle soup. Mm, mm good! I looked for some chicken tenders, either pre-cooked, or raw and came across the only raw tenders that they had in the case. Perhaps it will be the only one left over, until the end of time, since it was mispriced and marked at a whopping $719.31!  Well, I guess I will do without the chicken tonight, and instead elected on a ribeye steak, which was much more affordable, by comparison. Tonight we have potatoes, baked beans, and steak like a real gypsy cowgirl. They might sell this chicken, some day, in the year 2154.

I moved on to find the only covered bridge in Arizona, in the town of Pinedale. Suddenly, I felt like I was someplace in Kentucky, Ohio, or Pennsylvania. I managed to drive through it as the height and weight restrictions allowed me to do so. A charming find. From there I made my way to Fool Hollow Lake State Park, near Show Low. I settled in along the lake, enjoying the view.

It clouded up and started to sprinkle, which then turned into pea sized hail. I was really hoping it wouldn't get bigger as I don't need dings and damage to my rv! It stopped. I had planned another trip back to the forest, however, I was concerned over roads pooling up, and becoming muddy. So I inquired about a spot at the lake, and was lucky enough to get one. However, my neighbors who played loud music and along with obnoxious voices, prompted me to move into an even better spot, which resulted in a peaceful night. It was lovely waking up the next morning to a view of the lake, and I took my time to savor it, topped off by a really nice long hot shower in their clean facility. Whoo hoo!
