Towards Death Valley National Park, CA
My plan is to get to Death Valley National Park, CA. I managed to get out at 8 a.m. exactly when I intended to leave. With only a couple of stops, I arrived at Sanders Winery in Pahrump, Nevada, where I would spend the night. Luckily everything went smoothly on the drive except for the painfully rising gas prices, now over $4 per gallon. I got my fill of NPR news, and finally found some music that I felt like singing to. The world's in a very sad state right now, as if the pandemic hasn't been quite enough.
I enjoyed a flight of wine samplings and wound up buying a bottle of merlot. The grounds were surprisingly beautiful and reminiscent of someplace in Tuscany lined with tall Italian cypress trees, and tiny white lights. There is snow on top of the mountains, to the east. I enjoyed seeing and hearing flocks of crows in the dormant trees next to the vineyard. I think they are pistachio nut trees carefully planted in rows. I am very close to the border of Death Valley National Park. Today was certainly a great start!
Hi! I just came across your blog and can’t wait to hear about all your adventures. My husband and I are planning a month long cross’s country trip west in the late spring/early summer. Our goals at this point are the parks in Utah as well as Yellowstone, all of which he has seen before but I haven’t. So excited!!
