in Utah camping in the Uinta National Forest, UT

Well, even though it said 5 hours and 10 minutes (Miss Google maps) to get to my next destination, it’s always so much more than that since they don’t figure on the times you stop for gas or just a break and a bite for lunch. I know this, so it took the better part of 6 1/2 hours to reach my camp just south of Provo, Utah. I passed so many pristine, tightly kept little community towns. I was impressed with most of these historic looking homes, however, combined with disheveled, seriously trashed up homes. I am Near Jackson Wildlife Management Area. Day, two, and I’ve already done what seems like a lot of driving. Other than listening to public radio, or occasional music selections I do my isometrics and stretches while holding the steering wheel. My destination was a place that I camped out in 2021 but Miss Google took me on a route just south of that. It was unfamiliar. However, I saw signs to the National Forest in 1.6 miles, so I carried on. The road was pretty good gravel, and not too steep or two potholed. This is an area of a recent forest fire, and the creek next to me was completely exposed, with these eerie white trees, devoid of greenery left, standing defiant. It was a combination of dark clouds and sun, and while driving I heard of weather warnings somewhere in Utah, with ping pong sized hail. I had no idea of the areas they mentioned, but I hoped it wouldn’t be nearby. I settled into a spot, and did a few chores. It got windy here, and stormy. Then the thunder and rain came. I was completely prepared to whatever would occur knowing that I’m sitting on top of four rubber tires, and on high ground. It was quick, and it was over before I knew it, so fortunately, so far, the storm was mild. I am next to this running creek, and only one truck has passed me in the last four hours. I’m winding down…and deciding on what DVD I’d like to watch. There is no cell reception, so I’m typing this off-line and of course no TV reception through my antenna. I’ve collected many DVD’s at the local library for one or two dollars a piece. I focus on the classics, but also some series episodes, such as comedy, romance, or adventure. Day two, and I’m loving my trip so far. More to follow…
