Liard Hot Springs, BC

June 7

A stellar evening and night in this crisp area, how could I complain waking up to these brilliant aqua colored clean waters? My daily ritual requires that I roll up my shades to capture my view. I lay there, admiring my view until I must get up, but I resist getting up. I don’t hear a peep out of anyone at dawn. And I do my best to exit without slamming the doors as I have it down to a science on how to keep that quiet. Once I return, I can’t wait to turn on the coffee as the mornings are quite chilly. I didn’t make it too far down the road, perhaps an hour and a half until I got to Liard Hot Springs. But not before running into a family of Buffalo. The semi truck behind me was definitely on my tail end, so I quickly got over to a pull out section, so I could admire the buffalo while he quickly flew by. I’m just one of those tourists that has to stop. Since it was only 9:30 in the morning, I was lucky enough to get a campsite at Laird, as it has since filled up. The lodge across the street offered Wi-Fi for a five dollar daily rate. So for the first time in a couple of days, I was able to get out communications, which felt good. The other feel good was soaking in the mineral springs for a couple of hours until I finally needed to eat lunch at 3 PM. I returned at 6 o’clock for another hour and a half, and had the honor of witnessing a moose grazing well on this half mile boardwalk back to the parking lot. I met Connie, Gary, Paula, and others, enjoying some exceptional conversation and meeting many other tourists, who are either exploring, Canada or are also on their way to Alaska. This was such an enjoyable and relaxing day.
