Towards Skagway via ferry

I cherished my one last night along the ocean here cliffside, about five minutes north of the ferry terminal. I headed back down to another pull out where I could get cell reception to do some business, as well as a stop at the market to get yet another little pastry, as well as a chicken tamale for lunch. It was right next to the library, where a couple was taking a photograph of one of the many amazing totems in town. I offered to take their shot, and they took mine as well, and we struck up a conversation. They’re from North Carolina and on one of the few cruise ships allowed into the Haines port. I stopped at the American bald eagle foundation, a museum and a rehabilitation center where I closely observed two bald eagles in captivity. One of them shrieked loudly as I approached. What gorgeous and fascinating birds. I went on towards the ferry, checking in, receiving my tickets and lane assignment. It was a beautiful sunny day, and I was up on the top deck, for the entire 1 hour ferry ride. It’s a good thing I brought enough to cover up, as it was chilly. I spotted three waterfalls and as we approach the Skagway Harbor. There were four cruise ships docked, and you could see there were a lot of people here. So I immediately made a beeline to the Garden Valley RV park only about a mile and a half from town and found a dry camp spot for $10.50. You can’t beat that price! I returned back to town and spend a couple hours walking in and out of the shops. It all seemed vaguely familiar as I came here in 1995. It was a warm day at this point, and I carried Jo Jo for most of this. I returned back to camp for the night and also took a shower at this campsite for one dollar! Again, you can’t beat this price! The plan is to go back to town tomorrow morning and pay a visit to the visitor center at the Klondike gold national park. I also cooked up the remaining foods as I am considering crossing back into Canada tomorrow. The trip home is definitely on!
