Leaving Rocky Mountain National Park, CO
July 5, 2022
I got up at 5:55 AM. I wish I could say it was a natural awakening as I normally get up around this time, but alas the door slammers were out in force. It’s got to be a club, or a cult, or just a thing, where people don’t realize door slams are like mini explosions just waiting to wake people up.
I headed to Estes Park where I finally caught up with some Internet connection and research to find out where I can get JoJo’s dog food. I didn’t plan well and bring enough with me, so lo and behold I could not find his brand anywhere near me unless I made a one hour trip towards Fort Collins. After a bit of research I found out that hills science diet was quite compatible with what JoJo would eat, so I opted to find that location and purchase some. By the time I worked it all out it was already after 1 PM and realized that my next destination was about an hour and a half drive. I just didn’t feel like driving for an hour and a half so I opted for a mini backtrack about 17 minutes to the campsite called Meeker Camp. A peaceful night at seven dollars a night, as it came down in buckets of rain. Before the downpour, though, I actually whipped out my clay and supplies and created one of my small critter sculptures, a dog with pointy ears. I had to really put the gas pedal down to create this piece quickly as it got colder and colder and darker and drearier, at 8500’ and eventually the sprinkles came. I managed to finish the last few moments up inside the RV although I really don’t want to bring clay in here as it’s incredibly messy. I managed to finish the piece.
I did not have cell phone or Internet connection. But as a routine I did a scan of television reception, and would you believe I got 18 stations in. What a shock as I did not expect it, however I caught up on some news which is never all that much, and fortunately got news of weather with more rain. It lulled me to sleep.
