Back in the United States, Washington

It rained all night, and yes, the window at my bedside leaked, making my mattress, sleeping bag, and comforter wet. Yet another reminder that I’m camping. So I loosened things up and hoped that they could dry throughout the course of the day. Even though I had my awning out, to deflect the rain, I have no idea how the rain got in. It was still raining when I left and carefully navigated the mountain roads through this area as a headed towards the border. I really like the area as it was not only forested, some sparsely spread out pine trees, but plenty of deciduous trees. Among these, prairie fields, along a beautiful rocky river. There were signs of sheep nearby. There were several towns that I passed, and I felt that they were quite charming, however, plenty of properties looked like they were dump sites, and in some cases, quite shocking, sadly, filled with junk. I was very close to the border as I approached apple orchards and vineyards. Plenty of vineyard wine-tasting rooms that

Today was noticeably hazier as I’m actually heading towards a few towns that have fire issues. However, so far the freeway is open, but the visibility is as if it were foggy, but it’s not, it’s smoke. I drove, and drove, and finally I passed by a farm: Horstings Farm Market. So I got a slice of raspberry pie and a fresh corn on the cob. I would’ve loved to buy more, particularly the produce, but I am a day away from crossing the border. So my dinner consisted of corn on the cob and leftover pasta. I’m still finishing up those awesome blackberries and will have them “put away” by mid morning tomorrow. They also had “you pick” sunflowers and zinnias, as well as a corn maze. They were

I woke up to a very fiery orange sky this morning. It made for a great photo in my not so impressive spot, but it was perfectly adequate for one night as I make my way south. I sought out the tin man sculpture Prince George himself, which was not a really easy to get to it. After a bit of maneuvering I decided I had enough of the city life with all the traffic and noise and I couldn’t wait to get out! So I drove and drove, and kept seeing signs to Granville Coffee. The first time was 47 miles from the destination, then another, than another until I came to the town of Quesnel. A charming little town where someone took much pride and care with planting flowers all along the median. I regret not taking more photographs, but I decided to stand in a very long line to get me some Granville Coffee. Of course it was lunchtime, so I said heck, I will buy some lunch and a few pastries to go. I thought the price is requite reasonable for a large club sandwich that will be enough for two days a
