Belfast, Maine

Image
I left the charming town of Stonington, and headed towards Belfast, about an hour and a half away. But not before I visited the farmer's market, right across from the ball park, where I slept for the night. I found a treasure trove of organic vegetables, goat cheese, baked goods, hand made soap, and a chicken burrito for lunch. Yes, burritos in Maine, lol! I found Heritage Park, in Belfast, and parked it for a while, enjoying my burrito. I parked the Sylver Gypsy in town, and walked the Main Street into a variety of shops and art galleries. Everyone was super friendly. I carried Jo Jo in my kangaroo pouch, and of course, like usual, he attracted much attention. He is definitely an icebreaker, and everyone needs to know more about him, and then naturally, more about me. I wound up in a shop called: The Meadow of Belfast. Dave was quite nice, and took time gift wrapping a prior purchase, by a friend of his. In the meantime, I asked about the lovely streaming music of Kandice Springs,

Stonington, Maine

I'm finally back on the road heading towards Stonington, Maine. I made it to the ferry and was able to ride the 2:15 to Isle au Haut, (Isle-A-Ho) which is part of the Acadia National Park system. You can only get there by boat. I got off at the town landing, and made it to the remote ranger station. I decided to not do the one and a half hour trail in this area. Firstly, because it was super hot, with no cell service, and I was by myself, with no one else in the area, at all. So I walked into the little town with the general store and a lobster hut. I ate black raspberries along the way that grow like weeds here. It's definitely a throwback in time, in this area, as I passed by the remote post office, which looked more like a shack. I should have brought a postcard to mail. The only gift shop here, was already closed for the season, and it's only the end of August!  I was lucky enough to find free overnight parking at the ball field and spent the night in Stonington. So thi

Bar Harbor ("Ba Ha Bah") and More Fun

On my final day in Bar Harbor, I decided to take some time and go through the town, visiting the various shops, including some of the fine art and craft galleries. I enjoyed lunch outdoors at an Irish Pub, watching people depart off of the cruise ships. Yes, there were tons of people, it's absurdly crowded. I ended the afternoon with some blueberry ice cream. Everything is blueberries here. They are in season. You can find chocolate, tea, even coffee infused with blueberries. Eventually, I made my way to Shalom Organic Farms just north of Bar Harbor. As part of my Harvest Hosts membership, I decided to spend the night here, and sampled some local organic wines. I loved the apple and blueberry wine, but he was fresh out of stock, so I selected the pear wine to take home. This is a working farm. The owner's son came in, and his kids wanted to ride one of their sheep. So I enjoyed watching that, as the little boy got knocked off. We also fed some apples to the horses. They were swe
