Utah to Arizona and home
I woke up to the full moon this morning at dawn. I couldn't get over the colors of these cliffs across the street. They seriously were beautiful last night, but this morning they took on different effect in shades of red and white striped mounds which reminded me of the Painted Desert in Arizona.
Off to Page, AZ., I went, which was only about 30 minutes while I stopped at the Carl Hayden Visitor Center. Unfortunately they were closed but I did sneak a peek of the dam from the parking lot and walked along the bridge to take some photos. For a moment I felt like I might have had too much caffeine, feeling a little jittery, but then I realized it was the bridge vibrating and shaking with the traffic. A little unsettling as we were pretty high off the ground. I drove along to another lookout area and got a glimpse of the river below. The views of Lake Powell in these cliffs were really quite stunning. It's the first time I have been to Page. I knew I had to get going as I descended off these cliffs and stopped a couple times for some more photographs. I could see the western view of the Vermilion Cliffs, where I wound up on my first night in this particular road trip. It's as if you could see a thousand miles. I continued on through Flagstaff and I arrived home several hours later. My head was really exploding with all those elevation changes, so it was a bit difficult to adjust, but eventually I do.
I certainly had a wonderful time on this particular road trip 10 days long. My only misfortune was my windshield crack. All things considered, nothing else unfortunate had taken place. It is not lost on me, nor do I take it for granted when the times are good, as I know that something else eventually will come around. Such is life!
