Greenville, South Carolina

More visiting with friends and family! My nephew, Quinn, is staying with friends, Tony and Mei, who used to live in Phoenix. It was nice catching up with them. I went to China in 2007, and toured with them while they lived in Lijiang. They now live in a quaint mid century Greenville neighborhood filled with majestic tall trees. It's still raining quite a bit here, but I am able to plug in.

Downtown is charming, and I enjoyed a stroll through Reddy River Park. The falls were really running with all of the rain. We also enjoyed an evening at the Greek Festival, and a huge sampler platter of homemade Greek food and deserts. Yummy! Jo Jo sampled his first ever gyro meat lamb. I think he really liked it.

I helped to cook up a catered meal yesterday. I learned a lot about Chinese cooking, and that I have never used nearly enough garlic and fresh ginger. So now I know better. We went to a picnic party with this meal, and enjoyed the fruits of our labor. It was all really delicious!  Tony and Mei are both gourmet cooks, and have much experience with cooking. They both teach classes in town.

It was like dejavue for Jo Jo as Yixiu, their 8 year old son, got to know him. By the next day Jo Jo was "forced" into a game of hide and seek along with another 8 year old, and the 2 boys couldn't get enough. Jo Jo was put in several baskets, hampers, and cabinets while they searched for him. I seriously didnt think hide and seek could be played with a dog, but yes, in the case, it can. Jo Jo was amazingly tolerant. He tends to just succumb to the moment, as he doesnt have too much choice in the matter. I am hoping to spend one last morning and see my nephew before hitting the road to Ashville.
