Jamestown, NY, home of Lucy

On my way to Jamestown, New York, which is about 40 minutes from Allegany State Park. It's the home of Lucille Ball. For those of you in my peer group, I am sure you remember the "I Love Lucy" series well. It was actually filmed well before my birth, however the reruns kept me entertained during my childhood for many years. In the museum, I enjoyed watching videos and reading up about her life, and seeing many of the props, dresses and shoes. The studio portion of the museum was a recreation of the TV set including the living room and kitchen. It was a lot of fun watching some of the most memorable scenes including the scene from the chocolate factory, where she couldn't keep up with wrapping the chocolates, and stuffed them in her mouth instead. Classic. Lucy never even needed to utter a word, as her facial expressions alone could make you laugh. I also went to the memorial park to view the bronze statue's of the "good" Lucy versus "ugly" Lucy. There was quite the controversy about the older statue that looked nothing like Lucy,  but there is a brand new one that was created in 2016 which, I think, is a perfect depiction of her.

But, I came into town seeking the opportunity to meet my friends Phil and Stephanie. I was not able to reach them, but decided to swing by in the late afternoon, and low and behold, they were home. How presumptuous of me to just barge in and impose a visit! Am I a real gypsy? But they are gracious friends and we shared some great conversation and a wonderful meal before I retired to the Sylver Gypsy, where I spent a lovely, quiet night on their red brick lined road. Phil and Stephanie did many of the same art shows that I did back in the 80s, 90s, and early 2000's. So we had quite the walk down memory lane. I'm so glad I got the opportunity to see them before heading towards Letchworth State Park.
