A little bit of summer fun
My "base camp" is nestled in the woods next to my cousin's house. I am lucky that it's peaceful, and shaded throughout the day. As it has been heating up again. It is certainly summer!!! I continue to pick black berries every couple of days, this time with my little sweety, 7 year old cousin, Marina. She is eager to please, and help out. The red raspberries will be coming in soon. My cousin, Wendy and Ron have a wonderful historical home, in the town of Penfield. It was built in 1835. It's on 5 acres, and includes a large barn, and deep wooded lush deciduous forest. They have taken the time to lovingly restore the property, and continue this effort. There are cobble stone & field stone foundations all around the house. It's a work in progress and is becoming quiet the estate. It is beautifully charming.
I have visited friends Ava and Jo Ann and enjoyed lovely lunches with these two ladies. It was wonderful having art conversations with them. I consider Jo Ann one of my mentors from way back. She is an accomplished potter, and I have several of her pieces, including a watercolor painting. We ate lunch overlooking her beloved flower gardens.
Each night we have enjoyed evening activites. A soccer game, village concert, or an outdoor movie. We stopped at Bill Grey's restaurant (on my to-do list) and had what I considered to be one of the best hamburgers around, with "the works." Even though I try to feed Jo Jo prior to going out to eat, he starts getting pretty anxious, wanting table scraps. Apparently they are much tastier than his crunchie dog food. So I had to take him outdoors, as Marina and I had our dinner on the patio. I have always wondered how so many hamburger places can actually stay in business. But, this place is a local favorite and I can see why.
