Enjoying the perfect weather, and company
It's been very nostalgic for me, spending time visiting family and friends. My sisters and I would pick raspberries at my parent's house, on Plank Road, in Webster. We were pre-teens, and early teens. We would absolutely hate picking the raspberries because they were infested with daddy long leg spiders. I do not like spiders. And somehow, we got out there in the middle of the day, and the sun was just killing us. At the same time we would love the jam, and baked goods that my Mother would prepare. I would kill to have those goodies again. Now, decades later, picking these berries just floods back wonderful memories of my life with my parents, in a rural place, where fresh food is grown. What was once a chore has become a theraputic activity, later on in life. My cousin has wild blackberry bushes all over the place, at her house. They are just coming into season, so I have picked small bowls full. It was really quite emotional, reminising, and I so appreciate the opportunity. And, I saw a mama deer and two Bambi's this morning.
I had fun visits with my sweety cousin, Jessica. As well as my brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Teresa, along with sweety niece, Sabrina. JoJo had fun running around with his cousin, Andy, the pekenese. It was the first time that they had met. It was fun watching them engage. I spent a Sunday afternoon picking sweet cherries at Schutt's Cider Mill Farm in Penfield. Even though it was getting a bit warm, we enjoyed picking and eating sweet cherries. I wonder what my cousin, Ron, will create?
I just got back from a Thai dinner with college and artist friend, Diane. Whew, it's been fun catching up. Hoping for an early night in, as the late nights are an adjustment for me. After all, I need my beauty sleep......
