Jo Jo goes to the Hospital

I spent the morning at the emergency vet clinic, in Henrietta, New York. I've posted many details on Facebook regarding Jo Jo. He stopped eating Sunday morning, and over the last couple days I had noticed an abnormality in his jaw area. I truely suspected an abscess with his last remaining cannine tooth, but was horrified to learn instead that he has a broken jaw. Periodontal disease is common in his breed. So after many steps in the process, JoJo had surgery to remove his remaining teeth at Cornell University Hospital for Animals in Ithaca, New York. Fortunately they took him in right away, and with any luck I'll be able to take him home Wednesday morning. He will wear a muzzle for several weeks. I have yet to know more of that protocol, but they say he will need softened food for the remainder of his life. No more "crunchies" for Jo Jo. The doctor says he is well-behaved and being very sweet, and I can't wait to see him tomorrow. I decided to drive to Taughannock Falls State Park, only 2 miles from my campsite. The last time I was here was in 2013, where I hiked with my mother, and my sister. I wanted to take time to work up a good sweat, and do some deep breathing, to clear my head. I had plenty of mixed emotions thinking of my mother on this trail and how much she enjoyed it, when she was here. It's already been a trying week, and in the next day we are planning a memorial service for both my mother and father, so there are more emotions to be spent this week. The Sylver Gypsy is my comfortable home, and her AC worked well yesterday, when we had temperatures that registered a 101. I'm at the beach, at the State Park, and enjoyed the cooling waters of Cayuga Lake. I certainly feel better today and hope to sleep like a rock. Tomorrow will be a very busy day. Off to Wegman's now to find some eats....
