Quoddy Head State Park, Maine.

This may have been the most perfect weather day that I have experienced, in my entire journey. It was in the mid 70's, moderate humidity, and a perfect day to hike Quoddy Head State Park. I didn't quite make it around the island, as that would have been a few miles, but it took me several hours to do the trails that I selected. I took my time. I managed to park at one of the benches for about an hour and did a long overdue ball point pen sketch, in my sketchbook. Its a leather bound book that I have owned since 2001. There are incredible views of the rocky coast, with the pine trees, beautiful blue sky and clean water. And a lighthouse too. Jo Jo did well with me on this trail. it's really the first long trail that he's had since surgery. I managed to stop into the town of Lubec, a very old 1811 fishing town, that is no longer a fishing town. From what I have learned, the government set new standards for the fishing industry many years ago, and those upgrades were not affordable for many of the fisheries. So the industry, in this area, has been dying out. What's left is tourism. There were a few shops and some restaurants available, including a brewery. I learned that there is a beer trail in Maine, and if you get 20 or more stamps, you can earn a free t-shirt. I doubt that I'm going to do that, but it does sound like fun. I decided to spend another night here before heading down the road, a bit further south. The sea air is making me sleep well.
