Rock Hounding

Carol and I met up with the local rock hounding group and I left the Sylver Gypsy parked, in a lot, between Wickenburg, and Tonopah. We hitched a ride with the group, and it took an hour (10 miles) on a rough dirt road to the rock mine. (33.718047 -112.880602) Eventhough we were told that this road was passable by any car....well...it was definitely not for the rv, and I am so glad, I left it safely behind. After a massive pot luck, and a borrowed uv light, we set out to find bright fluorescent calcite, and also encountered scorpions. Yes, it was very creepy, yet very cool. The WTH, WTF, and OMG's were expressed. Those things move fast!!! The fluorescent (google) images are examples of what we saw. We returned safely to the Sylver Gypsy for a peaceful night's sleep........in the middle of nowhere!
