On the Road to California

I left this morning before 9 a.m. and managed a good drive towards Quartzsite where I filled up for gas, and probably the cheapest gas I will find for the remainder of this trip. It was $3.15 a gallon. I found my way to Imperial Sand Dunes in Ca.

It was a nice place for Jo Jo and me to stretch our legs, and get a great view of the sand dunes for as far as the eye could see. It made for some really dramatic photographs. I watched a couple of young guys sledding down the slopes.

I went through at least two agricultural stations and it didn't even occur to me to not bring any produce from Arizona. I have plenty of grapefruit and lettuce from my sister's garden. I'll be damned, if I was to declare or relinquish those items!!! But today was the day they just waved people on through. Lucky me.

The weather is as hot here in eastern CA, as it is in Arizona, and reached up to 100° on my thermometer. I had hoped to get through the Anzo Borrego State Park and find a boondocking location towards Julian, however it was already getting late, after 4 p.m. and I decided, what the heck, I will stay someplace tucked into this huge beautiful park. And I'm glad I did, as the AC is running in the Sylver Gypsy, and cooling things down for the evening. I'll take a little walk this evening, and just finished my dinner overlooking a beautiful cascade of mountains. There's literally nobody here, as it's off season in this part of the state. Absolute peace and quiet!!!!

  1. The sunflowers remind me of when I planted my entire front yard with sunflowers.
Have fun playing in the big sand box!
