Golden Gate Bridge
My new cell phone is acting up, so I spent some time at Verizon. Ideally I need to trade my phone in for a new one, however, I will make due with a headset and a compromise for now.
I headed to the Golden Gate Bridge overlook, and Jo Jo and I took a long walk in brisk weather. To date its the coldest day, with wild winds, and 52°. The bridge was really fogged in, and even though I was here for a while, it hadn't changed, or lifted. There were A LOT of people here, and parking, again, was a challenge.
Finally, I crossed over this famous bridge, to the other side, and intended on catching PCH route 1, however I didn't make the correct turn, and wound up going through many sides streets up and down with some challenging, tight, twists and turns.
It was my intention to reach the west coast, to an overnight spot, but then I realized that I really needed gas first, once I saw signs that it wasn't available until Point Reyes, many miles ahead. The traffic was crazy, so I also considered plan B: the Golden Gate Vista Point parking area, touted as a possible overnight spot, but it would mean a complete u-turn having to go south over the Golden Gate Bridge, then heading north again, to reach that exit. Plan C was to use the southbound exit across from Vista Point, but it was closed due to construction. I just wasn't in the mood to deal with all that traffic, more twisting roads, so I took a random turn through yet another tunnel into the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. I'm near an area of what looks like camp buildings, and parked at a trailhead. There is no sign that prohibits overnight parking, so I'm taking the chance that I can remain here for the night. This was Plan D. Last night I had a very poor sleep, so I have been literally dragging myself all day long. Sometimes this spontaneous travel goes through plans A, B, C, and D. Luckily, this worked out, and I had a good sleep.
I'm actually looking forward to leaving the city life, and heading out into more rural travel.
