Ilwasco to Lake Sylvia, WA
I spent another day with my Aunt Maria and Jim. We enjoyed a great lunch at "Doogers" in Long Beach, WA, along with the best tasting fudge ever. It tasted so fresh, creamy, and flavorful. Chocolate carmel sea salt.....delicious! We were referred to North Jetty Brewery, and enjoyed a sampling of their beer, along with shelled peanuts. I had one infused with raspberry. What a way to spend the middle of the day. I must be on a vacation, as happy hour never comes before 5pm.
The sun was trying to come out, however it was mostly dark, cloudy and drizzly. It gave me some time to catch up on laundry as we continued our conversations, and we seem to agree that relationships are difficult, need to be fostered, and are very complicated indeed. We must be philosophers too. We also agreed how fast time goes by and how it was just yesterday when we were young and had bodies that felt the same. It was good to see them.
After three nights at the Wallicut RV park, I'm heading north. I spend each morning looking over the apps on my smartphone, as well as my paper maps to assess my next potential overnight accommodations. I look at parks, or any particular attractions, and make a decision which I call plan "A." I came across an area called Lake Sylvia State Park. I figured it was a really good destination, and I'd give it a shot. I drove through a beautiful area called Willapa National Wildlife Refuge, with marshes and salt water fields, as far as the eye could see. I continued on through some smaller towns and windy roads until I hit this park. I managed to secure a site right along the lake....named after me. I kind of got a kick out of that....and it motivated me enough to take a 1.5 mile hike around this lake. It started out on a service road, quite flat, and then looped around to a narrow edged trail, up and down with several stairs, which then resulted in a pretty good sweaty workout. There was even a covered bridge along the trail. Jo Jo followed the whole time, without a complaint. He really is such a Mama's boy, and apparently will do anything and everything that I do. And one of the best parts of all, was that the sun finally came out, and warmed up day!
