Rain on Orcas Island, WA

Rain!!! Its chilly. My AZ people are scoffing right now. Its in the low 50's.

So what to do on an island on a rainy day? Well first of all I've been meaning to do laundry, so I stopped at a laundromat in the town of Eastsound. It was right next to the cannabis/ convenience store/gas station. What a combo.

I can see why coffee and expresso is so absolutely popular in this region. You just need a jolt of something to keep things going. So I stopped in town, at the local homemade chocolate company, and got myself a french press coffee with two custom chocolate bonbons. One lavender flavored, the other cappuccino. Yum. I already had breakfast, this was brunch. I talked to Mike from California, who's rental car broke down, and may have to stay here a few extra days before straightening it out. He went on to tell me that he heard about people waiting 3 months for a tow truck on this island. Oh my goodness that is incomprehensible. WHAT??? WHAT??? Everything has to be ferried in and out of this island. They call the shots. Gasoline is $1.50 per gallon higher than it was on Whidbey Island. I guess this is the island life in the North Pacific.

I continued gallery browsing, as Jo Jo got love all along the way.

The rain did subside, so I decided to take a hike to Cascade Falls in the Moran State Park area just down the road from where I am camping. I had to be careful because it's muddy and slippery but all went well, as the fog set quite the mood along with the slippery wet foliage which looked like it was shellaced.

I spent a second night in Morin State Park, near Cascade Lake, though on such a hill, I think I have a headache from being tipped.
