Back on the road, in Big Bear Lake

After being towed to the Ram dealership in Indio California, I spent a rather sleepless night right next to the I-10.  The traffic was never ending.

Within a couple of hours for service, my RV was ready to hit the road. Fortunately, it was a rock in the wheel,
that caused the awful grinding and squealing. They had to remove the tire to unlodge it, then checked all the tires, and gave it a test drive. I drove another 3+ hours today, and it was perfect. The service technician said he'd only seen this happen one other time in his career. He said I could have continued to drive it and that rock along with the bare metal could have worn down and dislodged. But at the time, there was no way of knowing what was going on, and I didn't want to risk further damage, which could have been the case as well. So in the end I'm glad I got it towed and it all worked out. Not an issue with the Travato, just a circumstance that will happen, like life, from time to time.

I've been driving all kinds of cars for 45 years and this certainly was a first for me. The sounds coming from this rock, set loose howling dogs, and turned all heads at that visitor center, like I was trying to contact aliens in outer space.

So, I lost a full day, but with a happy ending, and then stocked up on some chocolate to make me feel better. And if you should hear squeals from hell, from your wheels, maybe its a stuck rock.

Before heading to Big Bear Lake, I entered the North section of Joshua Tree National Park and did an hour-long loop tour to see the interesting rock formations, along with the prehistoric looking Joshua Tree. This was a unique landscape, and a picturesque blue sky day.

I plan to explore the area of Big Bear Lake before hitting the road again later today. I have a fossil digging appointment first thing in the morning tomorrow. I spent a very peaceful lovely night in this quiet community, right across the street from my cousin's house. She had an open level lot that was the perfect fit for the Sylver Gypsy.
