On the Road to Idaho, and the Sawtooth Forest
On the road to Idaho!
But not before stopping at a little park to view Bridal Veil Falls, right along the highway. It was a nice little paved side walk with an unbelievable amount of people for a Tuesday. The falls were a beautiful casscading pattern, which allowed people to come right up to the base. I observed one man that was about halfway up this very steep incline. Impressive, however nothing I would attempt! Kids were splashing around in the shallow water at that the base, even though I thought it was quite chilly. After a quick stop at the grocery store, I started today's drive which took about three and a half hours. So for the last couple days I've spent a good part of it driving.
The semi arid terrain took on and even more open pastureland. There was a lot of drama with black clouds and storms all around including lightning strikes . My first directions took me off the highway down a dirt road which led to a dead end, and sadly, this destination was wire fence off! Closed! It forced me to back up, which is always tricky. The reviews were good, however, I will have to add my own update. I did see several other dispersed camping sites, so upon backtracking, I found one that was fairly easy to get in to.
I am in the Sawtooth National Forest, near the town of Sublett. A was able to settle in and have a late lunch.
There seems to be a lot more singing birds in this area, since I'm right next to a stream, and I have several cows as neighbors as well. I had to laugh at their expressions while driving by. They seem quite harmless and easy going. Fortunately the temperatures are not too hot, in the upper 70s, as I have literally no shade trees around me. But I've opened up all the doors and windows and here inside the Sylver Gypsy it's quite comfortable. I have to dodge the cow pies and a few too many flies to truly be outdoors, but hopefully later on tonight I will take a walk with JoJo.
We were touring in our T at the same time. A little extra hot, but beautiful country. We were on way to Glacier.
ReplyDeleteGlacier was my northern destination as well. I enjoyed this journey north! I would love to return again some day!
