Montana!
I got an early start, and up before anybody else, to get the drive on, while it was still cool. I am finally in Montana, eventually driving through Missoula, where I connected with my friend's brother, Taag. We plan to meet in the late afternoon, and in the meantime I picked up a nice bottle of wine, and planned to make a pasta dish to share. It climbed back up into the high 80's and as I passed the sign to Montana Snowbowl, I quickly decided to head up the mountain. I wish I could say that the road was great, but it was the typical washboard, teeth jarring road. However I found a spot where I could stop, and cook my pasta, and have my lunch, where it was 78° versus 90°, and actually do some internet work as well, with a view! After a few phone calls, I headed towards Taag's house, and took the narrow driveway down to his 10-acre property. I crossed a railroad track, and a one-lane bridge over an active creek, to his custom home. He is a builder and an artist, and his home definitely had the details of fine craftsmenship, including superior wood working, that I appreciate.
I enjoyed some great conversation, and a barbecue dinner, with wine, and finally enjoyed the cool weather, again, overnight, close enough to the creek to hear the moving water. And the next day's shower in a real bathroom, was a treat. Mind you, I take RV showers all the time. But they are military showers, really quick, with resource conservation efforts in place.
What a safe, and special way to get a slice and introduction to Montana life on an open range, surrounded by mountains, and hospitality. Its my very first time in Montana!
