I will be here for a while!

I got up really early this morning and within a half hour, before 7am,  I was at the Fish Creek campsites hoping for availability. And today I won the lottery, as I got a spot for the night, within the park. I feel fortunate since there's a lot of driving in this park and it will certainly allow more time for sightseeing, rather than driving to and from overnight accommodations.

I made it to the end of the road, the "going-to-the-sun" near Rising Sun boat dock. It's at least two hours of driving, one way, down some very challenging road ways. I stopped at Logan Pass Visitor Center, which is extremely popular, and I was lucky to find a parking spot. Its the continental divide, the highest point of the park, at over 6,600 ft. in elevation. By the time I got out there, it was blustery windy and 44 degrees! Yes, I finally received my cool air, and had to wear winter gear! The pine trees are dwarfed, and one of the trails in the area was closed off because a grizzly bear was witnessed chasing down a mountain goat and running right between groups of people.

I continued on to the other side of the range as the weather got a bit warmer and sunnier. I made several stops as I headed back and was so grateful that I had a confirmed a campsite to return to. I stopped more than once with groups of people that spotted grizzly bears. I saw at least three different bears, and was able to observe them safely from the roadway. Its truly exciting to see these animals in the wild.

At one point we spotted deer running, with a bear, shortly behind them, but from very far away. The scenes we're gorgeous, the views were spectacular, the water is aqua blue in color. It's breathtaking. But very crowded, seriously bumper to bumper traffic!
