Evergreen, CO

A beautiful night at Kelsey Campground and I pulled myself away, yet again feeling that I didn’t want to leave such a peaceful, serene place. But I’m in a mission, a journey, to keep going. I made my way to the town of Evergreen Colorado. A quaint town, as I found my way to an interesting restaurant with wildflowers growing on the roof and an open dog friendly patio. So I found a table along the Buffalo Creek with the rushing waters. I had an urge for a salad, so I ordered the Mexican salad, with jicama and grilled chicken along with a local lager beer. JoJo was pretty well behaved, sort of, and I hate to admit that I fed him some chicken under the table to keep him quiet. Jo Jo is very food motivated and agitated and excited about the idea of eating. A doggy after my own heart. I continued to stroll the main street with galleries, studios, antique stores and rock shops. About 1:00, I headed out towards town of Idaho Springs. I wanted to stop and browse the shops, except I really needed to take the time and figure out my overnight accommodations. After a few trips into the forest using two different routes, I literally came across a dead end where it would’ve required a four-wheel-drive to continue. I was slowly exhausting my options, all the apps….and memberships… that I own, and I even called the local RV park that was filled up. I decided to leave the town and go on towards Central city and Black Hawk, which were mostly casino towns, somewhat similar, yet different from Cripple Creek and Victor. No overnight parking… no options…I checked and rechecked, and checked again. Currently I’m at Pickle Gulch in the Arphio National Forest. At a group campsite which requires reservations and of course I have none…Time will tell…
