Towards Independence Pass, CO
July 19, 2022
Other than street noise, my night at Tenderfoot Farms was just fine. The traffic noise settled down once it got dark. Did you know that Lay’s barbecue potato chips, and Hillshire Farm roasted turkey cold cuts contain corn-based ingredients? Such as modified corn starch, and maltodextrin? Yes they do, and I woke up to a very sleepless night. Allergic reactions in place. Ugh, just ugh. I should have planned better, as I needed to visit a dump station. So, I went back to Leadville, to seek that out, as well as more gasoline, and a visit to the post office.
I headed towards Independence Pass, towards Twin Lakes, not far from where I spent the previous night. The reviews led me to Parry Peak Campground. I checked in quickly before noon. Its a beautiful spot among the Aspen trees, and I took a hike with Jo Jo, towards the Arkansas River. I read my book, and observed the view, along the river. I felt tired from my previous restless night, so I was appreciative of the low stress low activity day. Enjoy the weather as it wasn’t too hot and it was very quiet at this campsite, which is unusual. It’s truly a pretty little spot
