Canada!
Another incredibly peaceful, almost eerie night just north of Whitefish Lake. No grizzly bear sightings, thankfully. Perhaps I was still half asleep, but I took a left out of the state land thinking I was on route 93 going through some incredibly gorgeous ranches manicured to the nines, and I can’t help but think who lives here? What celebrity or multi billionaire lives here? The area was stunning, and well-kept like botanical gardens. I should have stopped and taken photos. I kept going for at least 5 miles until I hit the end of the line, a gate showing private property so there was no getting through. I was perplexed. So I looked on my Google maps and realized that I turned the wrong way. Well, it’s not the first time I messed up, and it won’t be the last. I got the scenic route! I returned to the town of Whitefish and was on my way towards the Canadian border after filling up with gas. it was the first time I filled my extra exterior container which I did have to uninstall off the ladder. I put it up there weeks ago so I had to figure out….or remember how to remove it and felt a little foolish and silly, fiddling with it until it dawned on me on how it worked. So I have 2 1/2 gallons give or take with me just in case. The border crossing was very easy with only two cars ahead of me, and very little wait time, and maybe I worked myself into some doubts to figure out what I needed to declare. I left it up to the agent to ask me questions and didn’t volunteer anything which is probably the only way to do this. She asked me what I will do in Alaska? Without a second to think, I told her that I hope to have the adventure of a lifetime. That’s true. It was simple, and I was on my way with a sigh of relief. I was a little concerned they would take my Arizona citrus, but now I can enjoy it at least for another week! I am near Windemere Lake about two hours from Banff, parked in the forest near the highway, which also had a very long multi mile bike trail, so yes, I took my brand new E bike and drove the trail. I’m still getting used to operating it, so I decided to leave JoJo in the RV until I feel more proficient. It was a lot of fun, and it’s in the low 70s so the weather is quite comfortable. My goal is to make it into Banff, tomorrow, hopefully with some more reception so I can shop around for a campsite. it’s starting to sprinkle here,
just in time for a relaxing evening.
