Day one, Near Grand Staircase Escalante, UT

Day one was perfect! I am in blm land in southern Utah. I actually camped here about a year and a half ago. It’s warm, but I can already feel the temperatures dropping, so the overnight should be fine. After a stop to buy Navajo fry bread (yumm), I stopped at the Carl Hayden Visitor Center, in the Glen Canyon Recreational Park. This visitor center was still closed due to Covid in 2021. So I’m glad I had a chance to visit. The dam is an amazing engineering accomplishment, with beautiful views. I am enjoying the unexpected treat of hardy, beautiful wildflowers. So far I am the only one in this spot, and with any luck, Jo Jo and I will have the privilege of an exclusive evening! I am near the Grand Staircase Escalante. These rich, beautiful colors never cease to amaze me!
