Carol, Lynn, and Sylvia as tourists in Fairbanks, AK

I enjoyed a visit to the University of Alaska Museum of the North, two days ago, and this morning Lynn, Carol, and I, along with Jo Jo, walked to the engineering building 10 minutes from our parking lot, camp spot, to seek out an exhibit. We wanted to visit that famous bus that was part of the “Into the Wild” book and Hollywood movie. The museum acquired the bus, and it’s been under restoration for a while now hoping to be on display at the museum in about a year. In the meantime, we could see it from a window platform, looking down where students etc., have been busy to stabilize and preserve this bus. We spent some time here before heading towards REI. Lynn works at REI in New York City, and I needed to find some more mosquito repellent devices, including a head net. I think I have everything that I need at this point in time. Let’s hope. We went on to have lunch at the “House of Fire” pizza place while I used the same laundromat that I used about 10 days ago. Multitasking here, as I went in and out of the restaurant to monitor Jo Jo and laundry, and in the end we departed while Lynn and Carol went on towards Delta Junction. Carol, who lives in Minnesota, has owned her Travato since 2015, and has well over 100,000 traveling miles on it. She’s pretty modest about her travels, yet compared to me has nearly double the miles and years of experience. I am a humbled novice by comparison! I returned for a shower available at the laundromat. Who knew that you could actually get a shower inside the laundromat? How fabulous! I’m a bit sad now that my friends left, as we were having such a good time. I am so glad that the timing was right for this special meeting. I plan to spend another night at the University of Alaska shuttle parking lot, as it’s become quite familiar!
